The Orphan Care Afghanistan Welfare Organization has established small businesses for five more orphan families in Kabul Province in the fields of grocery retail and tailoring. Following a thorough assessment and the necessary awareness sessions, these businesses were successfully set up and handed over to the respective beneficiaries.
To support these businesses, each eligible beneficiary received an interest-free loan (Qarz-e-Hasana) of approximately AFN 20,000. The recipients repay the loan gradually by depositing AFN 1,500 to AFN 2,000 each month into the bank account of the Orphan Care Afghanistan Welfare Organization until the loan is fully settled.
With the implementation of this initiative, the total number of small businesses established under the program has now reached 292 orphan families, and the program continues on an ongoing basis.
No additional charges or interest are imposed under this program. The loans are repaid gradually with complete transparency. Beneficiaries who successfully manage their businesses and fully repay their first loan become eligible to apply for a second interest-free loan.
