In September 2025, Kunar Province was struck by a devastating earthquake that resulted in the martyrdom and injury of thousands of our brothers and sisters, leaving many families facing severe humanitarian and economic hardships.
Immediately following the disaster, Orphan Care Afghanistan Welfare Organization deployed its survey team to the affected areas. Through a thorough and comprehensive assessment, 50 orphan families were identified and registered. Bank accounts were opened for these families through Azizi Bank to ensure that assistance could be delivered in a safe, dignified, and transparent manner.
Each orphan family received USD 100 per month (equivalent in Afghanis) through bank transfers. As a result, a total of USD 5,000 was transferred every month to the accounts of these 50 families via Azizi Bank, allowing them to access the funds easily and without difficulty.
This support program began in September 2025 and continued until the end of December 2025. Over the course of four consecutive months, a total amount of USD 20,000 was successfully transferred to the earthquake-affected orphan families.
Similarly, in Kunar Province, in November, milking cows were distributed to 15 orphan families, and so far small businesses have been established for 5 orphan families, with the program still ongoing.
This assistance not only helped meet urgent basic needs, but also restored hope, trust, and dignity to orphan families as they worked toward rebuilding their lives after the disaster.
