Comprehensive Survey Completed for the Distribution of Dairy Cows to 15 Orphan Families in Kunar Province

In October 2025, Orphan Care Afghanistan Welfare Organization successfully conducted a detailed and comprehensive survey in collaboration with the Departments of Economy and Agriculture, as well as the local authorities of Nurgal District in Kunar Province. The purpose of this survey was to identify orphan families eligible to receive dairy cows under the organization’s Dairy Cow Distribution Program.

Insha’Allah, the identified 15 orphan families will receive their dairy cows in November 2025.

This survey was carried out according to the organization’s official program criteria. The selected families meet the following conditions:

They are orphan families without a primary breadwinner.

They have suitable facilities for keeping and caring for the cow.

They have access to a local market where milk can be sold.

Each family has committed to properly care for and maintain the cow, not to sell it for at least three years, and to ensure that the orphaned children continue their education. The entire process will be regularly monitored by Orphan Care Afghanistan Welfare Organization to ensure transparency and long-term impact.

Previously, the organization has distributed 172 dairy cows to orphan families across different provinces of Afghanistan — one of the most successful and impactful livelihood programs of Orphan Care Afghanistan Welfare Organization.

It is also worth mentioning that following the recent earthquake in Kunar, 50 orphan families were registered by the organization. Bank accounts were opened for them at Azizi Bank, and each family is now receiving USD 100 per month (in Afghan currency) conveniently and transparently.

In addition, the organization plans to expand its *Qard al-Hasan (interest-free loan) program in Kunar Province, enabling dozens of orphans and their guardians to start small businesses. The survey and data collection for this initiative are currently underway.

This is not just aid — it is the beginning of a dignified and self-reliant life for orphan families in Kunar.
