OCAWO has successfully concluded its comprehensive survey of areas affected by the recent earthquake in Herat province. The survey, which began on October 14, 2023, was completed on October 20, 2023, marking a significant step in providing aid to the earthquake-affected families.
A total of 40 families met the criteria for assistance through OCAWO’s survey. Among them, 35 families were comprised of orphans, while the remaining 5 families had disabled breadwinners. In total, 132 individuals from these 40 families are set to benefit from the organization’s support.
OCAWO has taken a multi-faceted approach to assist these families in need. The organization facilitated the issuance of identification cards for each family and introduced them to Azizi Bank. This enables the creation of individual bank accounts for every family, through which they will receive their monthly assistance.
The amount of assistance disbursed will be determined based on the size of the families. Smaller families will receive a minimum of 4,000 Afghanis per month, while larger families can receive up to a maximum of 11,000 Afghanis per month.
The funds allocated for this program have been generously donated by individuals and organizations from various countries, including the United States, Canada, Australia, Dubai, and others. A total of 2,800,000 Afghanis have been collected, which will provide the 40 families with 282,000 Afghanis per month. This assistance is set to continue for nearly 11 months and if the support continues in the future, this program will be extended, ensuring that 100% of the donations will reach the beneficiaries without any additional charges or deductions.
It’s worth mentioning that the entire cost of the survey, which amounted to 56,480 Afghanis, was covered in full by the founders of OCAWO. This ensures that every contribution from donors will directly reach the earthquake-affected families, furthering the organization’s commitment to providing effective and transparent assistance to those in need.
